I was thinking about that scene in the movie, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, when Madea called Helen out for beating on her now-dependent husband. Madea said something that rings so true: if you are in a position to get revenge on someone, and you take that opportunity to get that revenge, then you have not moved past the pain; you are still living in it. Getting revenge does not help; only forgiveness will completely heal.
I understand why forgiveness is for the healing of the forgiver. We need to get past the hurt that others have caused, and then sometimes we may have the story twisted anyway, realizing that things were not even as they seemed to be.

One thing I have learned on this life journey is this: people will spend their time and money whenever and wherever they choose. You could be on public assistance or a socialite; it doesn't matter.
